Injury Redshirt Tracker
This page keeps track of players that have used up their injury redshirt status. Per league rules, players with an age of 1-4 can be placed on injury redshirt status only once in their XFBS college career. The benefit of this is the player comes back the following year at the same age (i.e. a 3 year player stays a 3 year player for an extra season). The following guidance applies to injury redshirting in the XFBS:
- Anytime before week 7 games are run, a team can move injured players aged 1-4 to IR/redshirt status in order to maintain a year of eligibility. After week 7 games are run, no additional players can be placed on injury redshirt status (yep, if your senior QB gets an O-8 injury in your week 7 game, his career is over).
- A player can be placed on injured redshirt status if and only if the injury is severe enough that they will not return to full health in the current regular season (e.g. in week 7, it must be an injury that will take 6 or more weeks to fully heal; in week 6, it must be an injury that will take 7 or more weeks to heal, etc.).
- To place a player on injury redshirt status, the team must also activate an R redshirt/recruit. Example: If a 3 year player with an O-12 is moved to IR in week 6, an R redshirt/recruit must be activated to give up the IR spot. The R redshirt becomes a 1, but the 3 stays a 3 for the following season. Basically, when you use a redshirt slot for an injury, someone else on the teams loses their redshirt status.
